Alastair was fantastic. I needed a built-in wardrobe installed and because of the limited space in the room we had to find a way to make sure it was still functional whilst being as space conscious as possible and still looking nice of course. Alastair took my design ideas on board, told me upfront what would and wouldn’t work, suggested his own very innovative ideas, and in the end, we were able to come up with the final design collaboratively which was great. As for the installation, Alastair handled everything himself and was able to complete the whole job in a day, cleaned up as well, etc… The wardrobe looks great, sliding door, adjustable shelves, still looking great after six or so months so I couldn’t ask for more. It also received high praise from my roommate’s mum and she’s very discerning so major props. His designs are beautiful, high quality, and unique and I would fully recommend for any custom furniture ideas you are thinking about.

Alistair is a fantastic furniture maker, just about as qualified as you can be and even at quite an early point in this career showcases a real maturity approaching designs. My own piece I wanted to reproduce is complex in many ways and was pushed away by other more established furniture workshops, but Alistair took the time to have a full consultation to advise what might work, how it might work, and took everything into consideration. Not once did I feel like there was a lapse of confidence that he had the skills for the job! I had templates to hand already, but was still really blown away by his efficiency when one-off production began and within the promised (and surprisingly short) lead time. The precision and attention to detail of every single aspect of the finished piece was mind blowing, and reminded me why I decided to start production of it with Minus Fine Furniture in the first place. Very happy to have him on board to produce this design for orders in the future, and cannot recommend his services enough. High quality local furniture making is so crucial for so many reasons, and with Alistair I feel really happy knowing these values are going to be upheld for many more years to come.
