My name is Alastair Minus, born in 1998 in Kent, England.

I am a bespoke furniture maker, crafting high-quality, handmade, heirloom furniture. I specialise in creating unique pieces that reflect each customer’s individual style and taste. My furniture is made with the utmost attention to detail and craftsmanship, using high-quality, sustainable materials.

I am a highly creative and passionate furniture maker, with a love of woodworking that began when I was very young.

In 2017, I began my career as a joiner and then spent a year self-employed.

In 2019, I attended Rycotewood Furniture Centre to study Furniture Design and Make, where I further honed my craft. I now run my own furniture business, creating high quality, handmade, heirloom furniture..

I achieved a First Class BA Honours Degree in Furniture Design and Make at Rycotewood Furniture Centre
I trained for 3 years at one of the most prestigious furniture schools in the UK, Rycotewood Furniture Centre
I was awarded the 'Best in Show' Prize for my Walnut Dressing Table, awarded by the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers at the Rycotewood 2022 exhibition.
I was nominated and shortlisted for the Young Furniture Makers Bespoke Award in 2021 for my Ellipse Coffee Cabinet
I was nominated and shortlisted for the Young Furniture Makers Bespoke award for a second year in a row in 2022 for my Walnut Dressing Table.
I was awarded the Apprentice Furniture Maker Certificate by the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers which marks a young furniture maker who has exhibited exceptional standards of work in the industry and community.

I am proud to be a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers, this shows that I have met the standards and expectations of the Furniture Makers' Company as a member of the industry and is a testament to my training and qualifications.

Minus Fine Furniture is passionate about sustainability. We use sustainable materials and processes to create pieces that are both beautiful and functional. We are partnered with One Tree Planted and donate a percentage of every commission to planting trees in the UK and around the world.
