HOW IT WORKS
STEP 1: CONTACT
The first step in creating your perfect piece of furniture is for you to contact me via the contact form in the menu or by emailing: alastair@minusfinefurniture.co.uk or calling: 07860118581.
Following the initial point of contact I will discuss with you what you are looking for and any inspiration you might have seen from photos or in shops. I will also ask for important details such as rough measurements, type of wood or colour as a basis from which to start.
If you are looking for a bespoke piece to fit in a unique part of your house then I might suggest a free site visit or some photos of the space.
STEP 2: DESIGN
Next we move on to step 2 in making your perfect piece of furniture! Once we have discussed what you are looking for and I have the relevant information I will go away and design a piece using any inspiration photos and ideas of what you like and create a photorealistic render using Fusion 360. This will enable me to create a 3D, realistic model with colour options, various material options and will allow us to visualise the piece and all its details and proportions.
I will then send you the renders for you to decide what you like and what you don't like before we agree on a final design.
Once a final design is agreed upon I will write up a formal quote and ask for a 50% deposit if you would like to go ahead. As soon as the deposit is paid I will order the materials and the making can begin!
STEP 3: MANUFACTURE
Step 3 in making your perfect piece of furniture is to begin the making. As soon as the materials have arrived I will begin the first stage of the milling process. Please bear in mind that this milling process does take some time as it must be done in stages to prevent uncontrollable wood movement. By milling the timber in stages and allowing each piece time to acclimate I am able to better control and prevent warping, twisting and cupping and therefore reducing waste and headache further down the line.
Through out the making process I will send you updates on the progress.
Please be aware that making bespoke furniture can take some time, a huge amount goes into every stage but as a result, you will receive a totally unique piece of furniture, built to the highest standards.
STEP 4: DELIVERY
The fourth step in making your perfect piece of furniture is the delivery. Once the piece is complete I will send photos and videos for your approval.
You may also want to visit the workshop to see it person which can be arranged.
I will then ask for the remaining balance to paid before delivery or when I have delivered it personally.
You can then enjoy your new, bespoke piece of furniture.
STEP 5: Replanting
The final step in your bespoke furniture experience is knowing that your purchase has had a positive effect on the world.
I am proud to be partnered with One Tree Planted, once I have delivered your piece I will donate a percentage of the total to One Tree Planted who will then plant a certain number of trees on our behalf (depending on the value of the piece) in the UK to ensure our forests are kept alive and thriving. You will then receive a certificate as a thank you for your donation.
